Become a Member
To receive the exclusive benefits of membership, please register with the national organization of ACS here. Membership runs through the academic year and costs only $10. Benefits include: UT Law-ACS alumni networking lists, UT Law member-only monthly calls, UT Law outline bank, potential funding to attend ACS national and student conventions, access to ACS's electronic publications, and networking and job listings through ACS National. ACS members may also have the opportunity to become part of the Next Generation Leaders (NGL) program.
To become a member of the UT Law Student Chapter of ACS and receive the exclusive membership benefits, please:
Become a 1L Representative
1Ls from each big section join the UT Law-ACS board to help promote events and networking opportunities. 1L Representatives may attend board meetings and help Event Coordinators plan events. Serving as a 1L Representative is a great way to get to know other similarly-minded students, particularly 2Ls and 3Ls, as well as faculty and practitioners.
Become a Board Member
Each spring (typically in March), the current board of the UT Law-ACS chapter votes for the incoming board members. Serving on the ACS board provides opportunities to spotlight critical issues that are important to board members, to continue to build and grow our progressive community, and to meet fellow students and practitioners with diverse interests. Every year, board members develop significant relationships with faculty and outside speakers, which serves to enhance the law school experience. For information about the specific board positions, see here.
The primary responsibility for all board members is to organize 1-2 events per semester, in addition to participating in our decision-making and planning process. Executive board members (President and Vice Presidents) also help coordinate logistical and budgetary aspects of events and correspond with the national office. For current board members, see here. Please contact Nora Gay for additional information.
